SUMMARY: The Sensory
Science Technician will assist the Sensory staff in daily operations to
optimize the quality of our product. The Technician is responsible for
assisting in preparing and executing sensory tests, supporting training
activities, data collection, and working with Roasting and Production. This
role supports all activities related to sensory efforts. The role interacts
with Roasting, Coffee Process, Production, Distribution Center, Multi-Site,
and other GMCR facilities.
· Participate in
and support sensory training activities
· Prepare and
execute basic sensory tests.
· Assist in the
development and maintenance of computerized sensory support systems for
data collection, analysis, and reporting.
· Order supplies
and maintain the Sensory Lab
· Communicate and
interact frequently with the Coffee Department, Multi-Site, and other GMCR
to report food safety, quality and regulatory compliance to plant or
division personnel with authority to initiate action.
· Ability to work
independently on assigned tasks and projects, as well as within the
structure of a cross-functional team.
· Ability to
communicate ideas clearly and concisely.
· Ability to adapt and effectively prioritize work tasks in a rapidly changing

· Bachelor’s or
Associates degree in a scientific discipline preferred; laboratory,
culinary, or coffee experience a definite plus.

Predominately sedentary light office position with high frequency of
keyboarding/computer work required (67% - 100% of the workday).
· Ability to lift items, frequently kneel, squat, bend, and stoop, twist,
and reach overhead with repetitive motions.
