R&D Lab Sample Technician in Commerce, CA

Primary Purpose:
To compound flavors and perform tests as required by the project.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
1. Compound flavors for the laboratory.
2. Perform formula experimentation and revisions as requested.
3. Conduct laboratory tests on formulas, including but not limited to
specific gravities/WPG.
4. Order and maintain raw material stock and lab supplies/equipment.
5. Taste flavors for panels.
6. Run lab homogenizer.
7. Apply flavors to various mediums for use levels.
8. Document formulas and procedures.
9. May execute other projects or perform other duties as required by the
Division.
Minimum Requirements:
Associates in Chemistry, or a related Applied Science, or equivalent
laboratory experience,
Minimum of 2- 4 years as a Lab Technician in the Flavor or a related
industry. Must be proficient in all lab functions and processes and be
capable of handling projects from start to finish with little or no
direction or supervision.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to taste and smell chemicals, flavors and food products.
Must be able to stand for
long periods of time in a laboratory setting. Must be able to handle
different smells,
and be able to see to mix and compound flavors, speak, read and write in
English. Must be able to wear all GMP and PPE safety gowning, hair net,
ear plugs, beard net, lab coat, gloves, safety goggles, slip proof steel
toe shoes.
Working Environment:
Laboratory environment with exposure to a variety of aroma chemicals,
flavors and food products
