Cargill is building up further expertise in the research areas of food material science to understand and tailor structure-function relationship in food products.

The job is focused on strengthening our expertise in food system models to provide understanding of food structure as part of our program in Global Food Research. This position will provide technical support in developing food system models for medium and long-term research and business unit (BU) projects. It is expected that this person will be working with senior level scientists and project managers in Cargill.

Principal Accountabilities:

70% Execution of Scientific Expertise; including, but not limited to performing experiments, evaluating data, interpretation of data, writing reports and interfacing with internal and external clients/customers.

20% Administrative duties; including but not limited to, safety duties, instrument maintenance, report writing, instrument sourcing, career development, and evaluation of performance over the prior fiscal year.

10% Will be accountable for project timeline and good laboratory practices for experimental planning.

The successful candidate will gain experience in the modeling of food systems.

Qualifications

Required:

         BA/BS degree in scientific field such as chemical engineering, biochemistry, or food science

         Demonstrated experience in analytical and basic laboratory skills applied to food systems

         Ability to design and execute experiments with little or no direction

         Must be able to travel 10% upon project related needs or improvement of technical/business knowledge

Preferred:

         Experience in the use and maintenance of sophisticated analytical instruments

         Familiarity with basic food safety principles

         Experience with electrophoresis techniques
