Utah now
has five cases of salmonella involving the same strain that has sickened more
than 490 people in 43 states.
Federal investigators have linked the national cases to peanut butter and
peanut paste produced at a Georgia
processing plant. Dozens of food products have been recalled.
Marilee Poulson, an epidemiologist with the Utah
Department of Health, says she doesn't believe anyone in Utah has been hospitalized as part of the
outbreak and no one has died.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says 40 people have been
sickened in neighboring states, including Idaho,
Wyoming, Nevada,
Arizona and Colorado.
