Job Purpose


This position provides leadership and expertise to effectively design and conduct the innovative sensory and consumer test protocols and analyze the research data supporting long and short term business strategy. Recommendations are to be formulated by data analysis and will be used to support projects and mitigate risks identified in new or existing product/packaging opportunities in the United States.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

--Develop and implement sensory evaluation, consumer inquiry and evaluation protocols that provide consumer insight for the development of innovative product/package designs in the U.S.

--Develop sensory approaches and analyze sets of sensory and consumer data to help develop superior products

--Ensure the quality of our products through monitoring sensory characteristics of our brands at all manufacturing sites

--Moderate focus groups and actively contribute to Consumer Labs

--Collaborate with Market Research to provide expertise on sensory evaluation and its link to consumer understanding

--Implement best-in-class sensory and consumer evaluation methodologies – sensory tests, sensory panels, focus groups, consumer studies, etc.

--Support continuous improvement on new ingredients/technologies for effective development, cost optimization, quality improvement or processing efficiencies

--Analyze and interpret sensory and consumer data and report on findings

--Apply human senses and statistical models to describe and quantify the sensory differences between products and ingredients and to optimize products for consumer acceptance

--Apply project management principles to execute multiple project work and ensure development activities are aligned with timelines

--Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

 

--Bachelor’s degree in Food or Sensory Science or related field OR Behavioral or Social Science fields; Master’s degree or PhD preferred

--Minimum of 5 years of experience working in or with a food manufacturing company (agency, research center, etc.)

--Minimum of 5 years of identifying food sensory methods, and executing sensory and consumer research

--Experience in data analysis with actionable business results presented to the business

--Experience leading a project and motivating a team to deliver business results on time and within budget

--Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience writing technical papers

--Strong attention to detail, organized self-starter/motivated and able to work automomously

--Strong experience using MSOffice; SAS and/or SPSS preferred

--Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15%
