Knowledge & Skills:

Broad based In-depth life science technical background including molecular biology, biochemistry and food microbiology

In-depth food safety knowledge and aptitude

Pervious experience with leading development and commercialization of food safety project or program

Possesses broad general knowledge of related diagnostics functions, technologies, operations, services, and regulatory environments.

Direct experience in PCR, RT-PCR, immunological and enzyme based assay development for clinical and industrial applications

Previous experience leading and managing a technical development team

Experience working with DNA sequencing analysis and bioinformatics tools

Demonstrates strong planning, scheduling, organization, coordination, financial management, consensus-building, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

•Lead assembly and development of PKIs molecular biology based food safety solutions team

•Lead commercialization of molecular pathogen assays

•Source, Identify and secure access of technologies needed to develop solutions for pathogens, gmo, speciation and other food assays .

•Function as designated molecular biology expert for food safety.

•Participate in regulatory and other industry recognized validation of PKI food safety solutions

•Present PKI at technical meetings, conferences and other speaking engagements

•Develops strategy and long term plans for a food safety screening platforms .

•Oversees implementation of pathogen portfolio

•Direct the management of professional food safety staff and subordinate managers.

•Develops functional short and long term goals and budgets

•Maintains thorough knowledge of Country customs, laws, regulations, business practices and style required to maximize product or service profitability or ensure company compliance in various legal/regulatory areas

•Managing the food lab and R&D expenses

•Managing work according to PKI R&D processes.

•Participate in sales training and customer meeting

Qualifications/Experience

      Doctorate degree with 6 -8 years of experience required in a science-related discipline in a high technology environment.

      Previous R&D leadership experience

      5 – 9 years of experience with a MA/MS or 7 – 13 years of experience with a BA/BS Degree.

      Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment, working on multiple projects with constantly changing priorities and deadlines.

      Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

      Excellent team orientation.
