Serve as Food Safety Team Leader for KANA and ensure adherence to ISO 22000:2005 requirements.  Will be responsible for leading the team to ensure compliance with required food safety initiative.


  Ensure the food safety management system is established, implemented, maintained, and updated.

  Ensure education and training of Food Safety Team

  Report to management on the effectiveness and suitability of the food safety management system.

  Work with Food Safety Team members in Quality, Manufacturing, R&D, and other departments to identify potential food and feed ingredient safety issues.

  Facilitate review of new or upgraded products, new construction, renovations, and other changes with the Food Safety Team.

  Assist in analyzing audit results, customer feedback, and other information for potential food safety issues.

  Assist in establishing and tracking food safety goals.


  BS or BA degree preferred, with emphasis in food science or related area.

  Two years in a high-volume manufacturing facility with an established HACCP program.

  Knowledge of food safety requirements including but not limited to FDA, Codex Alimentarius, Food Chemicals Codex, accepted food safety certifications, and industry HACCP best practices.

  Detail-oriented and motivated self-starter.

  Knowledge of quality standards, product formulation and manufacturing processes.

  Ability to work with minimum supervision and a high level of accountability for their work.

  Good communication and interpersonal skills with a minimal English proficiency level of Intermediate High as defined in the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.

  Share information effectively in written and oral presentations, to all levels of employees.

  Computer knowledge in data analysis, charts, and spreadsheets.

Working Conditions: The Food Safety Team Leader is based at the Kemin AgriFoods North America facility in Des Moines, Iowa. The position typically is 40 hours a week but requires flexibility.
