8 BUT MAYBE A LEVEL 7 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE.
This position will develop and approve by audit, ingredient suppliers for a
leading, global food manufacturing company. The type of ingredients may span
from raw agriculture crops to technically processed and packaged ingredients.
This position will approve suppliers based on industry, PepsiCo and Frito-Lay
food safety and quality standards. Suppliers• approvals will require project
management due to developmental needs with suppliers. This role primarily
will interact with Product Development, Purchasing, Frito-Lay ingredient
suppliers, domestically and internationally.
Key responsibilities will be auditing, maintaining accuracy in Frito-Lay's
Ingredient data bases, working with developers to create advantaged
specifications in a timely and accurately verified manner. Leveraging
Frito-Lay's internal consumer and manufacturing feedback systems to build on
supplier performance, and developing and maintaining supplier relationships.
Other activities may include developing suppliers in disciplines of, GMP's,
audit systems, HACCP and sanitation standards, analytical testing, methods
collaboration, statistical process control and trouble-shooting to ensure
quality performance and food safety. This position will also oversee
maintaining and improving GLP's within the Analytical Lab and participate in
other activities including: assisting with
development of HACCP plans; employee education; troubleshooting; technical
consultation; and vendor and laboratory auditing.
Some weekend work and travel will be required.
Lifting should not exceed 50 pounds.
-Audit suppliers for approval
-Provide development leadership with suppliers to ensure food safety and
quality performance from Frito-Lay's ingredient portfolio
-Maintain timely and accurate documentation with clients and in data bases
-Provide technical assistance on various company projects
-Build capabilities and relationships with ingredient suppliers
Requirements: Minimum Requirements:
BS in Food Science or related field.
Expertise in GMP's, HACCP, regulations and standards for food manufacturing
plants; solid working knowledge in statistical process control, and physicochemical
analysis for food attribute and professional organizational methodologies,
Quality Assurance or Product Development experience, and knowledge of GLP's.
Basic computer and statistical skills
Excellent communication skills
Knowledgeable in laboratory safety
5+ years experience of applied food science and auditing in the food
industry. Experience at the corporate level, with Quality Assurance; supplier
and employee technical development; bilingual (Spanish)
