A well-established company in a midwestern state seeks

 

 degreed Meat Food Safety Manager

 

 to oversee all functions related to food safety through the application of

 

 regulatory, company, and customer policies, programs and guidelines.

 

  This position answers to Senior Manager of Quality, with no reports under this position.

 

 

 

Some responsibilities will include:

 

 

 

- Perform the microbiological sampling and release of products, submit samples to the laboratory, issue Certificates of Analysis (COA) as needed. 

 

- Observe pre-operational inspections on a regular basis.

 

- Responsible for pre-operational inspection training.

 

- Assist with the HACCP Plan (reassesments, quarterly meetings, etc.).

 

- Perform record review on a daily basis.

 

- Oversee HACCP training and all other food safety related training at the plant level.

 

- Coordinate and conduct monthly facility audits.

 

- Coordinate and conduct quarterly cold storage facility audits.

 

- Assist with third-party audits as needed.

 

- Assist with the yearly review of all quality programs as well as any Internal Auditing.

 

- Other duties as assigned

 

 

 

This QA job has no supervisory responsibilities. No subordinates reporting to this job.

 

 

 

Four-year college degree (microbiology, animal science or biology preferred); or equivalent experience and/or training. 

 

Strong working knowledge of Quality Systems including HACCP, SPC, GMP and SSOP's necessary.

 

 

 

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English well.  Bilingual; English and Spanish a plus, but not required. 

 

This position will be responsible for developing and writing multiple procedures and reports on a frequent basis.

 

 

 

Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide. 

 

Must be able to calculate and work with percentages. 

 

Must be able to accurately use a metric ruler.

 

 

 

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point). 

 

 

 

Must have HACCP Certification.

 

 

 

This QA professional should be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in English as he or she will be required to write procedures and reports on a frequent basis.  Should also be able to look for ways to improve and promote quality, demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in their work, and demonstrate organizational and leadership skills.  Will be expected to approach others in a tactful manner, react well under pressure, monitor his or her own work to ensure quality, prioritize their tasks, use time efficiently, and show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences.

 

 

 

Salary will be mid-to-high $50's with bonus.
