Research and Development



Full Time

Independently researches, conducts experiments, gathers data, develops preliminary findings and prepares written reports to result in new/improved products, cost savings and unique technologies providing business advantages. Design and implement all technical aspects of projects to ensure that all projects proceed according to plan. Selects appropriate methods, tests and procedures for testing. Assesses feasibility of new ideas and provides plan for development. Leads and directs the work of other Scientists. Requires one of the following: Bachelors in Science or Chemistry and 5 to 7 years experience, Masters and 3 to 5 years experience, or PhD and 1 to 3 years experience.

Exhibit a high level of professionalism and positively contribute to the image of ConAgra Foods in the technical community by active participation and leadership in outside professional societies. Recognized within ConAgra Foods as an authority and a valued internal technical resource.

Supervise assigned personnel with a demonstrated ability to inspire subordinates through strong leadership skills and participation in their development plans.

Through increased knowledge of ConAgra Foods business and interactions with all R&D groups and other functions, prepare plans and lead their execution against broad technical problems.

Continually increase level of expertise in area of specialization to augment ConAgra Foods technical leadership position.

Identify and develop research programs to exploit an emerging technology for significant business results.

Identify and develop research programs to drive cost optimization through formulation and processing efficiencies, create new prototypes for product development initiatives and to identify and approve potential ingredient and manufacturing suppliers.

BS in Food Science or related field plus a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience required, or MS in Food Science or related field plus 3-5 years relevant work experience, or PhD in Food Science or related field plus 1-3 years relevant work experience preferred. Related fields include:

Project management required.

People management required.

Frequent travel including flying to all parts of the U.S., possibly overseas, and driving a company or rental automobile 4 to 6 hours as needed.

Exposure to manufacturing processes and equipment for periodic extended workdays.

Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis
