Serve
as central driver for all food safety standards; primary
responsibility for development and implementation of food safety
and regulatory compliance policies and procedures for all Federal
regulated businesses
Provide
leadership and technical support to manufacturing in conducting
audits and to product development, product innovation and retail
operations
Advise
management on issues related to food safety, crisis prevention and
management/regulatory compliance
Direct
development of QC practices for overall corporate operations to
protect the organization from liability and to promote customer
satisfaction
Establish
standards for selection of private label vendors and for monitoring
vendor performance in areas of quality
Oversee
operation of third party quality control laboratory; Reduce
variation and optimize quality of private label products
Work
with retail operations, legal and finance to manage risk and
minimize liability expenses
Oversee
relationships with appropriate regulatory bodies; Identify and
implement food safety best practices
Ensure
absolute safety of private label products manufactured at company
facilities
Design,
develop and implement SQF systems for deployment and sustainment in
company private label manufacturing facilities
Manage
multiple complex QA products; manage and direct financials for QA
function
Liaison
with food and drug regulatory agencies (FDA, USDA, etc.)
Remain
current on state, federal and local regulations and develop
strategic thinking relative to legislative efforts
Identify
emerging issues related to food safety and work collaboratively
across the organization to ensure safety standards
Attract,
develop and maintain staff to ensure uncompromised quality of
company private label products produced internally
Establish
SQF Certification in collaboration with the Director of
Manufacturing
Qualifications:
BS
- Food Science or related discipline
8-10
years food safety, QA, food and drug regulations and operational
management leadership experience
Certification
needed: American Society for Quality; Certified Quality Manager,
Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor
Prior
experience establishing an SQF certification in an organization and
is also an SQF practitioner
Technical
knowledge and experience in statistical process controls and
process improvement programs (LEAN or Six Sigma)
