My client in the tracy Ca area is looking for a skilled Food technologist to join their amazing team.
Under the supervision of the Director of Quality and Food Safety, and in collaboration with other members of the Quality, Food Safety, and Product Development Teams, this position has a primary responsibility for supporting our quality and food safety-related product development activities including regulatory compliance, USDA and FDA labeling, product performance, process improvement, and shelf-life studies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will help insure FDA, USDA, and NLEA Labeling compliance, and the generation of NLEA compliant nutritional and other product claims. The company currently uses Genesis (by Esha Research) for nutrition labeling. The candidate for this position will be expected to become proficient with this software and related food databases.
The Candidate will already be, or will become familiar with: • FDA, USDA, and other regulations and requirements. • On-line regulatory resources. • Other resources identified or provided by the company. • Assist with the Maintenance of our Labeling Database including history of label development activities and label approvals.
This Position will: • Provide support for Product Development activities assigned to the Quality Assurance Department, including: • Collection of required Samples • Monitoring of Developmental Shelf-life activities, including product performance measurements related to the developmental projects. • Acquisition, Analysis, and Reporting of related Data. • Document Recommendations for improvement and/or next steps.
Other responsibilities as assigned:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must have a minimum of a 4 year college education including courses in mathematics and Statistics. A degree in Food Science, Food Microbiology, or equivalent science is a plus. 2. Must be able to read and write clearly in English, bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus. 3. Must have intermediate to advanced math skills. 4. Must have intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook). 5. Must have the experience and capability to learn new applications rapidly and apply knowledge to new tasks and assignments as required. 6. Must have the ability to use all senses, sight, hearing, touch and smell. Color vision is required. 7. Must be able to follow complex verbal and written instructions and be able to work independently to evaluate and effectively report any problems encountered. 8. Must have good communication skills. 9. Must be able to work effectively as a team player, with the ability to interact across departmental boundaries, minimizing conflict, and maximizing continuous improvement and good will.
