Job Summary and Mission

This job contributes to Starbucks success by providing subject matter expertise and implementation support for retail food safety, store cleanliness and store conditions standards. Assures an uncompromising experience for all customers by assessing retail stores, educating field partners and resolving quality issues. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Builds effective cross-functional relationships with field facilities and other professional services teams.
  • Consults with regional retail operation leaders to identify opportunities and drive improvement in execution of food safety and cleanliness standards in retail stores.
  • Implements and monitors quality assurance programs to ensure they meet or exceed intended objectives. Reviews company business initiatives to ensure alignment with retail quality assurance standards.
  • Interfaces with Local and State regulatory authorities to resolve issues and gain support for Starbucks program initiatives.
  • Manages third party audit program for region. Analyzes, summarizes and leverages audit data and pest control report information to identify risks and improvement opportunities. Devises and communicates improvement strategies to field leadership teams.
  • May provide technical guidance for quality assurance specialists in Region.
  • Provides guidance and direction to ensure in-store understanding and compliance with Starbucks standards and local health codes.

Summary of Experience

  • Food Safety/Retail Quality program leaderships in regulatory and/or private sector capacity - 5 years  
  • Registration Environmental Health Specialist (REHS)  or Certified Professional - Food Safety (CP-FS) certification in lieu of  or in addition to regulatory experience

  • Ability to solve quality and regulatory issues through data, processes and influencing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with facilities and the retail operations team
  • Familiarity with food regulations and retail food sanitation practices
