Job Description

Full Time position working 80 hours per 2 week pay period. Hours scheduled for Monday - Friday from 12pm - 8:30pm with every other weekend and holiday rotation.

The Quality Team Leader functions as a partner with NFS Leadership in Room Service, Production or Retail areas. This person performs and monitors a variety of duties involved with food service for patients and guests at Sanford USD Medical Center. This includes but is not limited to monitoring food for safety, quality and timeliness; delegating tasks to co-worker; monitoring receiving, storing and preparation of food following HACCP guidelines; managing daily operation in the absence of the supervisor; coordinating with Food Service Supervisors on daily staffing and operation issues with flexibility to assist as needed; monitors and/or requisitions food and/or supplies, helps standardize recipes; handles telephone messages, computer orders and fax orders; performs environmental, patient satisfaction and employee rounds; places maintenance work orders; handles complaints, mentors employees and is seen as a resource and a positive, enthusiastic role model; effectively communicates with co-workers, supervisors, vendors and nursing units; exhibits efficient problem solving skills and promotes outstanding customer service.

Knowledge of special diets, food preparation, HACCP guidelines and food allergies (Instruction in diet therapy will be given to ensure patients receive appropriate foods); knowledge of infant formulas and tube feedings; listening skills to effectively communicate; ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers; working knowledge and ability to develop, maintain and evaluate quality control standards; ability to use age-specific protocols when evaluating appropriateness of food choices; ability to create a harmonious working environment.

Required Skills

Equipment Operated: Office equipment such as telephone, computer, printer, fax and copier machines; Cooking equipment such as ovens, warmers, mixers, beverage dispensers, toasters; elevators; dish machines. Hours: (FT); Work every other weekend.

Required Experience

Serve Safe Certification recommended.

High school diploma or equivalency; on-the-job training provided. Required to complete Diet Therapy Class and pass exams; Previous experience required, minimum of one year.
