Food Safety Compliance Specialist (16162)

United States – Pennsylvania – Robinson, IL – Global Operations – Full-Time

 

Summary of Responsibilities:

·         Responsible for routine decisions related to product quality and safety

·         Provides solution or prevention of problems compromising product/process quality

·         Coordinates area work flow and may delegate work to QA Specialists. Provides input into the QA Specialist’s performance appraisals

·         Provides plant-wide employee training on food quality and safety issues. Leads the development of training materials and formats

·         High level of technical competency on all aspects of the QA Document/Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) process

·         Review, revises, and develops Product Excellence Program (PEP) documents

·         Investigates and analyzes incidents, takes corrective action, and/or make recommendations as appropriate for routine incidents

·         Uses various computer support systems for data manipulation, basic analysis and reports of product quality information

·         Maintains up to date regulatory awareness and understanding in field

·         Leads the Process Operating Guide (POG) Program within the plant

·         Undertakes assignments of high complexity to support and backup the Manager of Quality

·         Facilitates multi-functional project/task teams which may also include external customers and/or suppliers

·         Leads the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) efforts within the plant. Interacts with regulatory officials on behalf of the plant by leading regulatory inspections including internal or external customers

·         Verifies and validates all changes to the Food Safety and Food Quality Plan

·         Keeps apprised of new technology and regulatory activity; makes recommendations to plant management to assure compliance

·         Must be flexible with work hours

·         Rotational weekend on-call hours

·         Maintain close team working relationship with all operations groupleader/supervisors and maintenance supervisors

·         Establish and sustain effective relationships with all employees in order to foster an environment where innovation and cooperation are used to solve problems

·         Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and analytical skills

·         Ability to lead by involving others in decision processes

·         Ability to implement change, motivate others and encourage team development

·         Ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust priorities

Qualifications:

·         At a minimum 3 years of related experience required

·         Strong knowledge of federal and state food industry regulations

·         Understanding of sanitation and pest control practices

·         Strong knowledge of GFSI standards

·         Safe Quality Food (SQF) Practitioner Certification

·         Strong computer and document management skills with attention to detail

·         Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels to deliver timely results

·         Strong auditing / assessment skills

·         Knowledge of manufacturing operations

·         Strong troubleshooting abilities, understanding of lean manufacturing environment preferred

·         Strong leadership skills and ability to influence management enabling the direction of activities of teams of employees that do not have direct reporting to this role

·         Ability to interact effectively with 3rd party and internal auditors

·         Strong knowledge of all technical aspects of HACCP

Skills/Education

·         B.S. in Food Science, Microbiology or related field

·         Minimum of 5 yrs of equivalent related experience
