We invite
applications for the position of Sr. Food Safety Specialist. As a Sr.
Food Safety Specialist for Hill’s Pet Nutrition, you will be primarily
responsible for the development, renewal, review, implementation, training
and management of non-micro related Corporate Food Safety Programs. This
position will also provide support to the Corporate Microbiologist for the
development, renewal, review, implementation, training and management of
micro related Corporate Food Safety Programs. The Food Safety Programs will
include but not be limited to GMPs, HACCP and other pro-active
pre-requisite programs including pest control, cleaning and sanitation, and
chemical control.
Responsibilities
for this position include:

Develop and lead implementation of pre-requisite
programs in compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act. Programs
include, but are not limited to, GMPs HACCP, glass and brittle plastics,
foreign material, pest control, cleaning and sanitation and chemical
control
·
Develop training programs and train plant personnel
on food safety and pre-requisite programs.
·
Develop and manage a Food Safety Committee for the
regular reporting and KPI review of all food safety programs and issues
·
Lead audits for Hill’s suppliers, co-manufacturers
and Hill’s manufacturing facilities specific to food safety
·
Provide technical support to the Hill’s Corporate
Microbiologist in terms of cleaning and sanitization, root cause analysis,
microbial analysis, microbial food safety program development,
implementation and management
·
In conjunction with Operations and Plant Quality,
investigate and report on consumer complaints in relation to food safety.
·
Design studies for, and ensures the validation of all
food safety CCPs
·
Manage the Hill’s Food Defense Program

Qualifications
Basic qualifications
include:
Bachelor’s degree
in Food Science, Food Microbiology or Agricultural Sciences (e.g. Animal
Science, Meat Science, Cereal and Feed Grain Science).
Minimum 5 yrs experience in a food laboratory or food production
facility, including in the application of food safety principles, e.g. HACCP
and pre-requisite programs such as pest control, GMP's, cleaning and
sanitation, CCP validation and verification.
Preferred
qualifications include:
Experience in the
development and facilitation of food safety training programs.
Master’s degree
in Food Science, Food Microbiology or Agricultural Sciences (e.g. Animal
Science, Meat Science, Cereal and Feed Grain Science) with a minimum 3 yrs experience in a food laboratory or food production
facility, including in the application of food safety principles, e.g.
HACCP and pre-requisite programs such as pest control, GMP's, cleaning and

OR
Ph.D.
in Food Science or Food Microbiology or Agricultural Sciences (e.g. Animal
