Safety Manager - Storm Lake, IA - USDA Plant
Description
Position Summary:
This position will lead Food safety and Quality programs at a
designated manufacturing facility. This includes leading implementation and
on-going program management / oversight of Safe Quality Foods (SQF)
Certification, compliance to Sara Lee Corporation Quality Assurance / Food
Safety requirements and other related initiatives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Share in
company goals and standards of performance.
- Work on issue resolution of
customer complaints (foreign material or quality).
- Supervise food safety
activities within the budget.
- Take appropriate action to
ensure the integrity of the SQF System. Report any issues to
appropriate facility management.
- Maintain Standardized Work
Program.
- Manage nonexempt positions:
SQF Specialist, Microbiologist, HACCP Specialist, QA Supervisor.
- Maintain good communication
with all areas including Sales, R&D, Marketing, and Customers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
in Food Safety, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related
field preferred.
- Minimum five (5)+ years of
food processing experience in a USDA / HACCP manufacturing
environment.
- HACCP Certification from a
nationally / internationally recognized and accredited HACCP training
firm
- Demonstrate leadership in the
areas of food safety, quality assurance & plant regulatory.
- Previous experience with Safe
Quality Foods or SQF Expert Practitioner is a plus.
- Comprehensive experience with
USDA Rules & Regulations.
- Must have strong
organizational, leadership and communication skills.
- Effective verbal &
written communication skills with all levels of management.
- Able to work with cross
functional departments within the organization.
- Good problem solving and
corrective action / resolution skills.
- Strong computer skills with
experience using Word, Excel & Power Point. SAP experience
is a plus.
- Excellent communication
skills. Able to foster excellent relationships, trust and
credibility quickly at levels within the organization while achieving
key operating objectives.
