Job Description

UVM Extension Assistant Professor Food Safety Specialist
University of Vermont, Extension Services

The University of Vermont (UVM) Extension invites applications for a 12-month, 0.8 FTE non-tenure track position to be located in Berlin, Vermont.

The person in this position will strengthen local and regional food systems by increasing practices that ensure the safety of food that is produced, processed, marketed and/or consumed within Vermont and the surrounding region. Applicants need to possess an interest and expertise in one or more food system sectors, experience working with stakeholders, and a strong grasp of food safety issues.

Functions of the position include engagement in scholarly activities, grant writing, outreach efforts, interpretation of research to solve problems, and interaction with agencies, organizations, and stakeholders to support and enhance a safe and economically viable food system from farm to table.

Job Requirements

A PhD in Nutrition and Food Sciences or Agricultural Sciences is preferred; M.S. candidates will be considered. Experience in food safety is essential.
