Duties and Responsibilities:


This is a full-time academic year, tenure-track position beginning in Fall, 2012.

Review of applications will begin March 15, 2012, and will continue until position is filled.

Basic Function:

Establish an independent research program focusing on the microbiology of foodborne disease from food systems. Support the research component of the food safety outreach program. Teach two courses: 1) a food safety course to be determined by NFS (Nutrition and Food Sciences); 2) a microbiology course to be determined by CMB (Cell and Molecular Biology).


Required Qualifications:



1) Earned doctorate in Microbiology, Food Science or a closely-related area, plus a minimum of two years' of post-doctoral research experience in the area of foodborne microbial disease organisms.

2) Demonstrated record of publication excellence in the area of foodborne pathogens or food microbiology in refereed journals.

3) Demonstrated excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

1) Demonstrated teaching experience at the college level.

2) Demonstrated experience with current microbiological techniques assessing pathogenic microorganisms in food or food systems.
