Job Title:   Senior Technical Service Technologist

Position Location: Bridgwater, NJ  - US

Business Unit:  Global Ingredient Solutions/Technical Service

Relocation: Yes  Relocation Within Country Considered

Primary Function and Scope of Role: 

 

 

 

This position will provide technical service support and work closely with one or several territory and/or key account sales managers to identify growth opportunities within targeted sectors of the food industry and pursue those via rapid product innovation, formulation support, processing assistance and technical problem solving.  In addition, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining excellent customer relationships and managing technical projects with your assigned accounts.

 

Key Responsibilities and Activities:

 

1. Customer Relationships Develop and maintain superior working relationships with key R&D individuals and decision makers at customers.

 

2. Project and Territory Management Collaborate closely with sales representative to develop go-to-market approach for the assigned territory. Manage technical projects within accounts.

 

3. Ingredient Functionality/Expertise - Promote functional, value-added ingredients and ingredient solutions via phone, face-to-face meetings, presentations, and at trade shows. Conducting pilot plant and production scale trials at customers.

 

4. Product Development/Formulation Provide technical support to customers for a broad range of food applications. Assist customers in new product development. Develop new and creative food concepts to showcase innovative starch-based texturizing solutions.

 

Selection Criteria:

1.      B.S. in Food Science/Food Engineering or other relevant discipline with >5-7 yrs experience in the food industry or M.S. in Food Science with 2-5 yrs experience.

2.      Excellent verbal and written communication skills (technical reports for internal and external distribution, presentations, etc.).

3.      Experience in interactions with ingredient manufacturers or consumer goods manufacturing companies preferred.

4.      Excellent knowledge of common food processes, food ingredient functionality and ingredient interactions

5.      Demonstrated experience of creative, hands-on food concept development using culinary kitchen, laboratory and/or pilot plant equipment.

6.      Ability to effectively communicate and interact with a cross-functional team.

7.      Ability to effectively manage projects and lead project teams.

8.      Experience with experimental design, statistical data analysis, and interpretation of results

9.      Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

10. Up to 25 -30% travel will be required.
