Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for the implementation of regional marketing plans for the food and water market. As a member of the Americas marketing team, this role provides support in defining and improving products and tactical implementation of key products and brand functions supporting the business plan. The role will be responsible for a number of defined projects presented to the regional team as part of personal development. The Associate Food Market Manager must have a thorough technical understanding and experience with molecular based products, thrive working cross-functionally in a matrix structure, be detail oriented, self-managed, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Assist in implementing global strategies to meet the needs of locally segmented customers

·         Assist in development of marketing plans to include: market assessment, brand and product positioning, customer needs analysis, competitive assessment, and product gap analysis

·         Assist in market segmentation to allow for focused marketing efforts

·         Work cross functionally between Marketing and Product Management globally and locally, R&D, and Business Development to allow for product optimization and rapid uptake of local product launches

·         Assist with coordination and implementation of initiatives related to the food and water market locally, working cross functionally with other departments to insure success

·         Identify product gaps or duplications and recommend product rationalization and conversion/cannibalization plans and timing

·         Facilitates market research and customer survey to better understand the business and product offerings

·         Assist with evaluation and analysis of market conditions and revise strategies and tactics as needed to corresponding with changing market conditions.

·         Develop, recommend and coordinate promotional activity with Sales and Marketing Communication Departments

·         Developing forecasts and lead communication with Product Management, Planning and Supply Chain management

·         Establish relationships with customers, key opinion leaders, industry associations and field sales

·         Develop copy, collateral and media in conjunction with Global Product Management, MarCom and the advertising agency

·         Administration of key sales and marketing functions (ie. product loads, literature searches and reviews, representation at local departmental meetings…)

·         Support field sales through the design and presentation of sales tools and training modules and implement selling messages to identify selling opportunities or problems and recommend appropriate action

·         Develop margin expansion through management of product value stream and price guidance

·         Support and assist with implementation of molecular training program with a train-the-trainer approach instilling the capability and confidence to effective sell the molecular range

·         Support and participate in Customer Trade Shows through attendance and marketing presentations

·         Interact, support and influence local government initiatives, policies or guidelines which may affect customers or product focus

·         Ensure the Voice of the Customer (VOC), market environment and competitor insight is effectively communicated back through the organization

·         In addition, other duties may be assigned as the need arises


·         Possess Bachelors Degree in relevant discipline (Biology/Microbiology/Molecular Biology/Food Science or similar) and/or business/marketing

·         Training or education in associated sciences such as Microbiology and/or significant experience in the field of Molecular Diagnostics, Microbiology and/or Food Science

·         Ability to travel 20-30%

·         Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

·         Excellent presentation skills and an ability to engage an audience

Desired Qualifications

·         Sales/Marketing experience with a strong track record of commercial success in applied markets is desirable

·         Additional experience in Sales, Business Development and/or Finance is desirable

·         Understanding of the US food safety, molecular diagnostics and microbiology markets
