Quality Assurance Manager
Icicle Seafoods, Inc. - Seward, AK

 

General Description: To design, maintain, and uphold procedures and policies to ensure that all products produced by Icicle Seafoods, Seward Fisheries comply with State and Federal regulations, and meet Icicle’s product specifications and customer requirements. To ensure plant design, operation, and personnel practices are compliant with CGMP’s, and State and Federal requirements and thermal processing standards. Icicle Seafoods, Inc. , Seward Fisheries produces fresh, frozen and canned products as well as fish meal and fish oil.

Responsibilities:
Assume procedural responsibility for monitoring, inspection and evaluation of all incoming raw materials.
Assume procedural responsibility for evaluating all phases of processing with respect to quality, safety, sanitation, and adherence to specifications.
Assume procedural responsibility for timely and accurate record keeping.
Work closely with and support plant supervisors in matters of quality, safety, sanitation and adherence to specifications.
Communicate with plant supervisors and plant manager over potential problems and problem-solving.
Participate in employee orientations and meetings that address quality, sanitation and product safety.
Provide training, leadership, and supervision to QA technicians and Leads.
Interface with food regulatory agencies and auditors. Advise plant manager of any significant findings which may adversely affect audit / inspection outcome.
Conduct special projects or complete other duties as assigned by Plant Manager, Corporate QA Director, or other Icicle officers.
Assume procedural responsibility for HAACP Plan and Salmon Control Plan, as they relate to fresh, frozen, and canned products.

Qualifications:
Must be able to communicate well and work well with others.
Must have good math and written communication skills.
Must exercise good judgment when problems arise.
Must be able to work long hours in a stressful, demanding environment, and be a self motivated individual.
Must be a hands-on individual in all phases of production
Familiarity with HACCP, Alaskan seafood processing regulations, and federal food code preferred but not required.
Bachelor degree in Food Science, or related practical work experience, preferred, but not required.
One year (minimum) quality assurance experience preferred.

Salary / Wage will be dependent on experience. Full benefit package.
