We are searching for a Food Engineer to join our Research & Development team. In this role, the successful candidate will be assigned specific brands to independently support in the areas of product and process improvements as well as improving efficiencies in our manufacturing facilities. Partnering with R&D, Quality & Food Safety, Supply Chain, Operations and external partners this position reduces waste, improves processing capabilities and ensures compliance with product specifications.

' Apply engineering knowledge to determine best ways to process, package, preserve, store, and distribute foods.
' Coordinate and perform trials in Pilot Plant and factories to insure correct launch and execution.
' Keep technically informed through suppliers and technical literature.
' Use chemistry, microbiology, engineering, and other sciences to study the principles underlying the processing and deterioration of foods.
' Research ways to make processed foods safe, palatable, and healthful.
' Formulate new products operational capability, efficiency, and adherence to government, company policy, and industry standards.
' Confer with cross-functional partners such as food technologists, engineers, plant operators, sensory experts, packaging, marketing, and sales in order to drive the product development process.
' Evaluate food processing and storage operations, assist in the development of quality assurance programs for such operations.
' Develop equipment and food standards and specifications, safety and sanitary regulations.
' Solve technical problems through search of scientific literature or other sources of technical information.
' Investigates equipment, ingredient and process innovations through suppliers and technical literature.

What are the key requirements to be successful in this role?

' A Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in the fields of Chemical, Mechanical or Food Engineering. We are also open to considering Food Science and other applicable engineering/science fields of study.
' A minimum of 2 years professional engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
' Candidates with Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing preferred.
' An independent thinker with a bias towards action demonstrated by new processes, procedures or actions suggested or taken in previous roles.
' Highly developed interpersonal skills to enable cross-functional alignment demonstrated by a track record for building strong relationships with business partners outside of direct team.
' Strong communication and influencing skills to facilitate effective dialogue with key stakeholders demonstrated by effectively coaching/leading other team members through a project.
