Director of Food Safety/Quality Assurance/Technical Services

We have an immediate opening for a Director of Food
Safety/Quality Assurance/Technical Services to join our team. This key
position reports to the VP Operations and Quality. The Director Food
Safety/Quality Assurance/Technical Services is charged with implementing the
strategic goals and vision of D.F. Stauffers and
for managing the entire Food Safety, Quality Assurance and Technical Services
functions for all locations.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- P&L
of the Food Safety, Quality Assurance and Technical Services budget
- Tracking
Cost of Quality
- Provide
support to operations on in plant technical issues relating to
formulation and processing.
- Effective
deployment and implementation of corporate food safety and quality
policies and procedures.
- Focus
on the performance of off-site QA ensuring consistent adherence to
regulatory, corporate, customer and local regulations, standards and
practices.
- Review
the Quality systems in the plants for compliance with required programs
and provide guidance and support to Plant Quality Assurance Managers to
reduce gaps.
- Assist
the Plant Quality Assurance Managers by mobilizing the necessary
resources to address system gaps and quality issues in a proactive
manner.
- Oversee
quality data analysis, dashboard reporting data, periodic executive
summary reports of the data, and estimates of process capability to
assure accuracy.
- Vendor
qualification and approval
- Other
duties include management and oversight of:
- Ingredient
specifications and associated documentation
- Formula
databases
- GFSI
(SQF) program administration
- ICIX
external vendor database
- Quality
policy/procedure manual
- Co-packer
food safety and quality
- Maintenance
of the company wide SPC program
- Internal
and 3rd party auditing
- Lead
all FDA inquires and audits
- Environmental
Pathogen monitoring program
- Development
and maintenance of FDA labeling and Nutritional panel information.
- Primary
contact for customer technical support and product development
requests.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s
degree in Food Science or related field preferred.
- 5+ years experience in the Baking industry (preferred)
Food Processing/ manufacturing (required)
- 5+
years of progressive strategic QA management experience (preferred).
- Highly
effective facilitation, presentation and verbal/written communication
skills.
- Excellent
planning, time management, organization and decision-making skills.
- Ability
to build and maintain quality relationships with team members and
customers.
- Ability
to identify and resolve customer issues and work effectively with
diverse personalities.
- Proficiency
with Microsoft Office products including Access.
- HACCP
Certified (Required)
- SQF
practitioner
- ASQ
Auditor (preferred)
- ASQ
CMQ/OE (preferred)
- ASQ
CQE (preferred)
- Must
be able to travel up to 30 percent.
