Description

Responsible for assigned activities involving quality assurance, compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, and support the QA Department and Company’s relationship with internal and external customers, manufacturing sites, and internal resources.

Essential Functions:

Ensures systems used in QA are properly maintained (e.g., QA audit records, training records)
Performs protocol, data, report, and other duties both an administrative and technical discipline to verify conformance to applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and regulatory requirements.
Responds to information requests for both internal and external data to assist the Corporate and Plant QA Management team members.
Notifies management of quality/compliance trends and service failures.
Researches and writes white papers providing recommendations for QA management.
Facilitates changes to SOP, policies, training materials and other documents for a technical discipline.
Mentors co-workers and internal customers with application of regulatory requirements (e.g., GLPs), SOP requirements, and other guidance documents, as applicable.
Provides supervisor support on selected, large-scope projects involving data collection and / or research small scope individual topics drafting recommendations to QA management.
Interfaces with Co-manufacturing QA/QC/Manufacturing and Sales or Customer Service (or other groups) in problem resolution, and continual improvement.
Recommends and implements modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
Responds to internal customer complaints, inquiries and audit requirements relating to Co-manufacturing sites with appropriate sense of urgency and business criticality.
Supports product quality/ co-manufacturing failure investigations, defines investigational strategy.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

2-4 years experience in a food science, quality assurance, or seafood industry field. Strong data entry and computer skills utilizing spreadsheets, databases, word processing programs, scheduling programs, and other proprietary computer programs. Basic appreciation of project management. Well organized and multi-task oriented. Knowledge of GMP and HACCP principles a plus.

Education:

Associates degree or equivalent; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of eduction and experience.

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and database software. Must also have strong computer skills. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to management and other employees of the organization.

Work Environment:

This job takes place in a typical office environment and is subject to moderate noise.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception.

Mental Activities:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use teamwork skills, analytical skills and interpersonal and customer service skills. The employee should be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
