EMSL Analytical, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Food Chemist for its Headquarters location in Cinnaminson, NJ.  EMSL is a growing commercial environmental testing laboratory.  This position offers the chance to work for a stable company that is team oriented and offers growth opportunities within the organization.

 

Working under the direction of  senior staff members , the candidate will be primarily responsible for sample preparation and testing of food products  and dietary supplements for various type of analyses (nutritional, pesticides/herbicides, vitamins, etc.)

  

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

Perform a variety of sample preparation and analysis procedures to quantitatively measure chemical and physical properties in a variety of food products

 

Conduct routine analysis in compliance with applicable methods, protocols, SOPs

 

Maintain and complete all laboratory documentation in clear and accurate language

 

Operate and maintain basic analytical equipment and instrumentation designated for food analysis (will be trained)

 

Perform calculations and conversions, and compile the data obtained

 

Manage time effectively to complete assignments in expected time frame

 

Maintain a clean and safe laboratory work environment

 

 

 

Qualifications & Experience:

 

Bachelor  or Associates Degree in Science/Arts (BS/BA)  in Chemistry or related scientific field  such as Biochemistry, Food Science or  Analytical Chemistry

 

3 - 5  years of laboratory experience in wet/analytical chemistry.

 

Must have 2 to 5 years experience using LCMS.

 

Working knowledge of HPLC,  and GC would be a plus

 

Experience in quantitative extraction and sample preparation techniques

 

Previous experience in food chemistry, food sample preparation  is preferred

 

Ability to complete data calculations including percents, ratios and common algebraic formulae.

 

Excellent organizational and time management skills are necessary

 

Ability to work with little or no supervision in a fast-paced work environment and interact effectively with all levels of staff

 

Good written and oral communication skills 

 

Knowledge of basic computer skills such Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is required

  

 

Hours:  Monday – Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM but flexibility is required.
