Quality Assurance Technician (Food Science)

at various states of production. Will compile and evaluate data to
determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Conducts audits of plant daily to maintain compliance to USDA
and company standards.
? Collects product samples for tests at specified stages in
production process and tests products for variety of qualities.
? Calculates data necessary to perform daily lab functions.
? Performs daily microbial swab tests
? Maintains laboratory facilities.
? Sets up and performs tests on products to measure a variety of
factors including, but not limited to: performance, shelf life, taste,
texture, fat content, moisture content, protein content.
? Evaluates the quality of our products against the specifications.
? Analyzes and Investigates why unexpected results occur and
gathers data to prove hypothesis.
? Assesses the quality of those products and make recommendations
? Assures that all GMP’s are being followed.
? Monitoring procedures and processes are being followed
according to documented standards.
? Compiles records for USDA and Quality Assurance.
? Recording data in the appropriate software and/or paper records.
Ensure that records are kept correctly, timely and accurately.
? Participates in meetings.
? Obtain an in-depth understanding of our product lines and technology.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an

? Training in HACCP, GMP’s, Food and laboratory safety a plus.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum two-year degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or related
field and three-five years experience (in a USDA
plant is preferred).
Computer literacy is a must.
Must be able to read and interpret government regulations, work related
documents and work related periodicals. Ability to write reports,
correspondence and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly with
individuals and/or groups is required.
