Cargill Meat Solutions has an exciting opportunity available for a Food Scientist Research and Development. This position will be the primary technical resource for cooked meats (beef, pork, turkey, chicken). The candidate will work with customers and business development to define new product development, production process development and improvement, and capture intellectual property.



Principle Accountabilities:


  • Primary project manager for new/improved product testing and process testing.

         Serve as a significant member of the cooked meats team

    • continual customer support
    • improvements/innovations in product and production
    • timely and accurate information
    • a sustainable and profitable product line





A bachelor's of science degree or equivalent experience in food/meat science,culinary arts, hotel/restaurant management or food processing.


A minimum of 2 years of experience in new product development, commercialization of new products, and/or research.


Experience in meat processing, especially cooked meat manufacturing.


Understand customer needs, wants, and services.


Be confident in making and delivering promised solutions to customers.


Skilled in product analysis (micro, sensory, color, culinary, etc.)


Willing to travel and able to work remotely/independently.


Travel to production facilities or customer visits (20-50%)%3C/SPAN>


A strong background in scientific procedure and project management skills.


Knowledge and understanding of factors affecting meat quality.


Knowledge and understanding of ingredient functionality.


Data analysis, design of experiments and technical writing skills.


Proven leadership and communication skills.


A high level of proficiency using Microsoft Office tools and email.





A Master's, PhD in food processing.


Previous experience with statistical software.


Previous experience in retail and/or food service operations.
