Our client, a leading CPG Company headquartered in central Pennsylvania, is looking for the ideal Food Technologist to compliment their Product Development team. Reporting to the Director of Product Development, this position will tasked with the development of new and optimization of existing products designed to meet consumer needs and optimization of product quality via improvements in ingredients, processing strategies and formulation.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

This position will be responsible for developing new products and line extensions and managing all product development activity from concept through commercialization. Additionally this position will be responsible for the following activities:

         Designing and conducting test work at pilot plant

         Conducting production scale-up and troubleshooting at startup of new products

         Conducting focus group and trained panel sensory product testing

         Coordinating tasks with other departments to meet project goals and to manage the project timetable

         Participating in team and departmental activities such as panels, meetings and committees

         Developing creative solutions for a wide range of complex problems requiring significant ingenuity and creativity

         Maintaining technical skills and personal improvement through completion of appropriate training

 

Ideal Candidate Profile Includes:

         BS degree in Cereal Science, Food Engineering, Food Science, or related field or work experience demonstrating equivalent technical skills

         A minimum of six years grain-based extruded product development on cross-functional, multicultural, large scale project teams, managing products from conception to commercialization

         Strong formulation skills, understanding of food systems, food processing and flour and starch ingredient functionality

         Understanding of sensory testing and statistics

         Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and assignments and lead/motivate a project team

         Strong understanding of processing equipment and formulation and development of product financial costing analysis

         Excellent organizational skills and a high attention to detail, both in written documentation and verbal clarity
Strong problem resolution skills, strong facilitator of conflict resolution


Position requires approximately 30% travel.
