The incumbent will lead product development initiatives, including the design of new and modification of existing Wrigley confectionery products worldwide. S/he will need to effectively scale-up, troubleshoot, and document critical specifications while identifying opportunities for competitive advantage and intellectual property.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    As an NPD Project Leader, the incumbent conducts research and development on new and existing formulations; Communicating results and recommendations of experimental results to NPD Management, Production, and Marketing.

2.    Investigate properties of ingredients, including their interaction and effects on final product performance.

3.    Coordinate and execute effective scale-up strategy with cross-functional partners within R&D, Quality, & Operations.

4.    Provide technical assistance to factory personnel as needed for successful scale-up and launch, working with outside consultants, suppliers and testing laboratories as needed.

5.    Help coordinate and direct task activities of staff Technicians and/or more junior Developer(s) assigned to same project.

6.    Effectively document research protocols and conclusions for peer understanding, while proactively managing Regulatory and Intellectual Property guidelines.

7.    Performs special projects or tasks assigned by overall project leader, direct manager, or other member of senior leadership team.

8.    Builds upon project management and technical development skill through project experience, training, and mentoring. Responsible for review of progress and development strategies with manager and subject matter experts.

 

Qualifications

·         An advanced degree in chemistry, food science, chemical engineering, or related field; OR a Bachelor’s degree with extensive & relevant experience is required.

·         Minimum 5 years experience developing and launching products (global food company experience preferred).

·         Demonstrated leadership and team collaboration competencies; Strong project management and complex problem solving skill; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Self-directed, forward thinking, and ability to make recommendations with limited information / data.
