Position Responsibilities:

Under minimal supervision researches, conducts experiments, gathers data, develops preliminary findings and prepares written reports for the development of new products beginning at conception through successful commercialization. Selects appropriate methods, tests and procedures for testing. Develops project timelines, creates technical proposals and reports and makes recommendations. Participates is cost savings efforts, independently initiates projects and works on projects from other sources.

Leads technical and cross-functional initiatives integrated with business teams

Design and implement all technical aspects of projects

Contribute guidance and suggestions early in the product development process that will improve delivery of functional product designs.

Actively contributes to adjustment and enhancement of the process and product.

Prepare recommended manufacturing procedures for use in transition to plant production.

Provide technical support for start-up operations in manufacturing. Assist with installation of new processes and with manufacturing start-up at assigned plants to ensure designed manufacturing procedures are functional. Revise and troubleshoot the process as needed to ensure successful production of desired products. Prepare specs and identify/develop associated quality control measures as applicable.

Identify, develop and assesses ideas for technology improvements / cost savings

Prepares and present results, both written and oral, to peers and management


BS in Food Science or related field plus a minimum of 8 years relevant work experience preferred. Related fields include Nutrition, Food Chemistry and Food Engineering.

MS in Meat/Food Science or related field plus 6 years relevant work experience preferred. Related fields include Nutrition, Food Chemistry and Food Engineering.

Ph.D. in Meat/Food Science or related field plus a minimum of 4 years relevant work experience preferred. Related fields include Nutrition, Food Chemistry and Food Engineering.

Experience in Product Development in a Food Company required, protein experience preferred.

Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Must possess high learning agility.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.

May travel up to 40% of time. Must be able to travel independently and as a responsible CAG representative.
