Manager, Food Safety (Job Number: 001362) - Deerfield, IL

Description

 

Responsible for establishing and enforcing written food safety policies and procedures for the production, transportation, storage, and handling of products throughout the retail distribution sales chain and maintaining a strong retail relationship and will report to the Director of Product Integrity.

         Develops, implements, and maintains a supply chain risk assessment model with control points, to include manufacturing, shipping, warehousing, and point-of-sale for Walgreens retail food operations and Private Brands

         Establishes and oversees implementation of retail HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) programs

         Develops and enforces food safety programs for retail to include produce and prepared food

         Implements programs to address direct, store delivery food safety challenges

         Establishes and maintains a written Food Safety Program, detailing minimum expectations for external and internal suppliers and retail operations

         Serves as food safety technical resource for all levels of the supply chain

         Develops safe handling policies and procedures for direct store purchases

         Serves as driving force for the organizational distribution of food safety education & information

         Position requires 30% business travel

Qualifications

 

Basic Qualifications

 

         Bachelors degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Agriculture, or another scientific degree

         5 years experience in Food Safety in manufacturing, distribution, and point-of-sales with emphasis on food service/retail

         2 years of experience with the standard distribution chain model including issues associated with direct store delivery systems

         2 years of experience with problems associated with produce and/or store deli operations

         5  years of experience with broad based risk assessment/HACCP programs

         5 years of experience with FDA Food Code and GMP's. (Good Manufacturing Practice), working with Federal Regulations governing foods, drugs, cosmetics, packaging & labeling and consumer hard good

         5  years of experience with third party audits and obtaining corrective actions

  

Preferred Qualifications 

         Experience with pest control programs
