Senior Quality Technician - Hot Mama’s Foods - Springfield, MA
Hot Mama's Foods is a gourmet food manufacturer providing high quality sauces, salsas, hummus and other diverse products to the retail, institutional and private label markets. We are looking for a skilled Quality Technician to insure compliance to all quality controls and procedures. This position provides leadership to production and sanitation teams to ensure finished product safety.
The Quality Technician complies with Company and Regulatory Policies governing safety, hygiene, and the manufacture of foods. Technician ensures all customer requirements are met and satisfied on a daily basis: processes and procedures are being followed and documented accordingly, and all checks and verifications for weights, scales, temperatures, coding and all data are completed correctly. Ensure readiness for start of shift through visual inspections and review of pre-op paperwork. Respond to non-conformance by informing management or initiating corrective action.
The Quality Technician performs swabs and other laboratory tests as directed. Technician assists with developing and implementing shelf life studies and FIFO rotation of product. Creative responsibilities include assisting in the creation of new processes, controls, data collection procedures, documentation and specifications as requested by customers or in response to quality non-conformance, changes in equipment, etc.
The Quality Technician must have excellent communication skills. Technician will train and mentor employees to insure all forms and data are completed correctly. Assist with company-wide and indoctrination training.
Requirements include, but are not limited to, BA in Food Science or related field or related experience. Minimum 2-3 years experience as a quality technician in a food manufacturing environment. HACCP certified and experience with third party audits, kosher and organic preferred. Must be well organized and able to work with minimal direction. Must have the ability to communicate across all areas of the company, pay attention to detail, and problem solve.
