The employee serves as an senior investigator utilizing an in-depth knowledge of an industry or class of commodities, including and excellent knowledge of raw materials, products, manufacturing practices, and related problems of the industry. Duties include

 

  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct high-level inspections and investigations with numerous complications, where experience, timeliness, skill and tact are critical.
  • Perform a variety of duties to carry out, administer or advise on work concerned with assuring the quality of work transactions, business processes and delivery of services needed to carry out Food and Drug Administration programs and functions.
  • Serve as program manager for the Office Quality Management System working the National QMS Staff to align with and further national quality policy and process.

Qualifications and Evaluations

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR:  This position requires skill in experience utilizing a Quality Management Systems.  Applicants must show that they have this experience in the resume. 

Basic Qualification Requirements:  You must meet one of the following:

A. You must have successfully completed of a full 4-year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included at least 30 semester hours in one or a combination of the following: biological sciences, chemistry, pharmacy, physical sciences, food technology, nutrition, medical science, engineering, epidemiology, veterinary medical science, or related scientific fields that provided knowledge directly related to consumer safety officer work. The 30 semester hours can include up to 8 semester hours in statistics, or course work that included the principles, theory, or practical application of computers or computer programming.  OR
B. You must possess a combination of education and experience. My educational course work consists of at least 30 semester hours in the fields of study described in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Additional Qualification Requirements: 

To qualify for GS-14, You must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service, performing a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness or the improvement of complex management processes and systems; and planning, organizing, and directing team work and negotiating effectively with management to accept and implement recommendations.
