The Quality Assurance and Consumer
Protection department, located in Albany, NY,
has an opening for a Quality Assurance Auditor. This position
will serve the consumer by ensuring consistent high quality and compliance to
specifications for Consumer Branded Product.
Qualifications:
• Four year college degree in food science, chemistry or related field.
• Six years experience in Quality Control/Quality Assurance.
• Two years Laboratory experience.
• Two years Quality Auditing experience.
• ASQ, SQF, SAFE, BRC, or equivalent sector audit certification
• SA800 certification or the ability to demonstrate knowledge of equivalent social responsibility programs
• Certification
or working knowledge of animal
welfare principles
• Six years food and or GM/HBC related experience, preferably with perishable food experience.
• Ability to motivate, manage, lead and influence subordinates, peers and
superiors.
• PC applications literate.
• In depth knowledge of food safety, product quality programs, preventive QC
methods, HACCP, GMP’s, Allergen issues and
manufacturing security measures.
• Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills to include management
ability and team based culture.
• Thorough knowledge of US & Canadian regulatory compliance requirements.
• Strong leadership and management skills.
• Energetic, self-motivated and the ability to act with a sense of urgency
and intensity.
• Ability to speak conversational French is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs.
Key Responsibilities include, but are
not limited to:
• Conduct and manage the third party vendor audit programs for assigned
vendors.
• Actively participate and serve as a technical resource for the Marketing
Team.
• Inspect, audit and certify supplier facilities for compliance with
sanitary, regulatory, production and QA requirements.
• Enforce functional HACCP, GMP’s, NLEA and evaluate operations management effectiveness.
• Conduct Existing Product/New Vendor and lot approval evaluations.
• Enforce Safeway QA Food Safety & Quality Policies.
• Travel – 40% will be required across multiple time zones within North America.
