Manufacturing Q&FS Manager leads the quality and food safety support
efforts to assure the production and packaging of high quality and safe food
products by external manufacturing and packaging suppliers that comply with Nutro's product design and meet Nutro's
customer and consumer expectations. The External
Manufacturing Q&FS Manager is accountable for enforcing Mars Q&FS
requirements at external manufacturing and packaging suppliers and provides
direction and influence for continuous improvement to the suppliers' Q&FS
systems. Principal
Accountabilities ˇ
Manages and directs all Q&FS functions for external
manufacturing and packaging suppliers. ˇ
Assures that all products produced or packaged by
external manufacturing suppliers are safe for consumption and conform to the
intended product design, including change management and process improvement. ˇ
Assures the effectiveness of the Corrective and
Preventative Action program at the External manufacturer. ˇ
Determines the disposition of all products produced or
packaged by external manufacturing suppliers from analytical testing review.
This includes positive release for micro as well as non-conforming products. ˇ
Facilitates document control in Nexus, particularly for
specifications for finished products and ingredients. ˇ
In partnership with Innovation and Process Improvement
teams, supports external manufacturing suppliers with the implementation of
all new products and process improvement projects. ˇ
Works closely with Supplier Quality Assurance with
auditing external manufacturing suppliers and assures actions are taken to
correct nonconformance items. ˇ
Leads the review of external manufacturing suppliers
for Nutro. ˇ
Represent the "owners" of the Mars business
at external manufacturing suppliers with respect to the Q&FS of products
and the food processing environment. This responsibility includes
participation in the Management of Crises involving products, and the
on-going interpretation and reporting of information from our customers and
consumers. ˇ
Assure adherence to the Mars Global Quality and Food
Safety Standards by external manufacturing suppliers, including (but not
limited to) HACCP, HRCI, QMP, and MQM. Key Critical

Q&FS training requirements for external
manufacturing suppliers. Recommendations ˇ
Line operation shut down due to product Q&FS issues
in the process or site environment. ˇ
Product dispositions for held items. ˇ
Participate in the development and implementation of
Q&FS strategies for external manufacturing suppliers. ˇ
Q&FS systems or projects for improvement at
external manufacturing suppliers. ˇ
Laboratory analytical support required to troubleshoot and resolve issues external manufacturing
suppliers. Key

Required ˇ
BS in Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering or related
technical field is required or equivalent ˇ
A minimum of 6-8 years experience
in a technical area such as R&D product development, process improvement,
laboratory management quality systems, or food process engineering. ˇ
An advanced understanding of quality systems and food
safety programs Preferred ˇ
An advanced degree is desirable There is no
