Description

JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a qualified individual who will provide key support in the Quality Department. This includes performing Antibiotic testing and, raw milk component testing, finished product testing, Environmental monitoring testing, Water testing, and other testing as assigned. A Laboratory Technician will complete data entry and collection, project assistance, filing, conducts audits as assigned, and maintains calibrations on laboratory and production testing equipment. Additionally, the Laboratory Technician assists in providing training (Quality, GMP, and HAACP) to all new employees and to the plant when necessary. This individual will be expected to actively participate with the team and assist in creating a positive work environment. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES:

 This is a key position within our company that:

∑        Conducts prompt and accurate tests that support timely reports: Right the First Time (RTFT), etc.

∑        Conducts accurate and timely product testing. (Maximize warehouse and storage space)

∑        Maintains and supports the Corrective Action Program, Laboratory records in accordance to regulatory agencies requirements, and the Appendix N Section 6 State testing requirements

∑        Maintains Production and Laboratory records in accordance to regulatory agencies requirements

∑        Submits regulatory records for review by Quality Manager before submittal

∑        Demonstrates and conducts necessary rechecks and product screening

∑        Performs risk assessments for all jobs performed

∑        Takes weekly supply inventory

∑        Cleans and maintains laboratory equipment

∑        Performs testing and maintains equipment calibrations per schedule

∑        Follows all established policies and procedures, GLPís, SOPís, SSOPís, OSHA, Safety Regulations, and GMP Laboratory Methods, and Work Instructions

∑        Comply with GLP (Good Lab Practices) program

∑        Maintain security and confidentiality of information within the Quality Department

∑        Performs other tasks as assigned

 

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:

∑        1-2 years experience as laboratory technician or equivalent experience preferred

∑        Dairy lab experience a big plus

Working Conditions:

∑        Must be able to stand for long periods of time to perform necessary testing           

Knowledge:

∑        Ability to read basic operating instructions 

∑        Must be able to understand, interpret, and communicate effectively all reports and machinery

Skills:

∑        Multi-task

∑        Effectively communicate with other employees on a daily basis

∑        Demonstrate good listening and reading skills

∑        Detail oriented

∑        Basic computer, phone, fax, calculator, and copy machine skills

Equipment:

∑        Must effectively be able to operate all lab machines such as: Microwave ovens, 5 Hour ovens,  Fume hood, Raw milk analytical testing equipment, Finished product analytical equipment, Microscope, pH meters, scales and other standard dairy laboratory testing equipment.   

Abilities:

∑        Must be able to lift up to 50lbs occasionally

∑        Will require lifting, mobility and stamina to complete assignments
