The Food Technologist is responsible for helping
to launch new products and improve existing products.
Details include but are not limited to:
- Bench top formulation
- Pilot plant trials to
determine feasibility
- Develop bill of materials
reports and generate COGS
- Assist with development
of production procedures
- Create product
specifications and maintain product specification database
- Create product labels
- Improve existing products
by optimizing product attributes
- Assist in product quality
improvement projects
- Evaluate alternate
suppliers in regards to products
- Evaluate alternate
packaging structures
- Generate alternate
merchandising unit
- Perform testing on new
and existing products using appropriate methods and analysis
- Perform shelf life
testing to validate shelf life
- Assist with package
design prototypes and sales samples of new products
- Maintain store bin label
database and print labels as requested
- Take initiative and make
decisions in regards to product development and product quality
- Work closely with
customers and suppliers in the development of new products and
identify, develop and implement new ideas, ingredients and
processes
- Develop project timelines
that are acceptable to management, marketing and Product
Development Manager and accomplish on-time delivery
- Work closely with
marketing and sales as well as with customers to develop and
promote new products
- Conceptualize and develop
new product prototypes
- Oversee and direct work
of 2 Food Technicians
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors Degree in food science
or related field
- 1 - 2 years
experience in R&D with a food company
- Proven experience leading
projects from ideation through plant trials to production
- Snack food experience
preferred
- Proficient computer skills
- Excellent communications
