Brief Description

In this role you will focus on the operations side of quality by providing food safety and quality assurance leadership to the domestic manufacturing locations. This role will also provide compliance leadership and guidance within quality systems, food safety and sanitation. Your focus will be approximately 40 percent technical, 40 percent leadership and 20 percent salesmanship/communication.

Detailed Description

Duties of the role include:

  • Supporting implementation and sustainability in GFSI and HACCP compliance
  • Working with the plants to investigate and resolve customer / consumer complaints
  • Supporting Operations in developing and implementing programs that drive product and process consistency and standardization
  • Providing the necessary training to drive compliance to quality programs within Operations
  • Collaborating with other functions to develop preventative food safety and quality programs
  • Ensuring implementation and compliance to QSPs, SOPs, PCPs, specifications and labeling requirements
  • Supporting Operations in coordinating systemic corrective and preventative actions regarding internal (QS + self audits), third party and customer audit deficiencies
  • Supporting Operations to maintain sustainability of GFSI certification
  • Supporting Operations in new product launches and product / process redesigns through well documented and systematic commercialization and change management process
  • Collaborating with Quality Systems and Operations to analyze / resolve customer complaints and perform root cause remediation 
  • Collaborating with Enterprise Quality Food Safety and Operations in reviewing and analyzing data from pathogen monitoring program and Pre-Op inspections; utilizing the data to respond to trends taking preventative and corrective actions
  • Providing expert guidance and leadership for Regulatory compliance (FDA / USDA) at the plant level

Job Requirements

We're looking for leaders who thrive in fast-paced environments. The successful candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, related field
  • CQE / CQA certification preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in plant production and quality
  • Excellent knowledge of quality in the food industry
  • Solid understanding of food safety
  • Experience in using a full range of statistical and analytical tools and fundamentals
  • Experience with government regulatory requirements
  • Auditing experience
  • Computer and report writing skills
  • Intelligent problem solver
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Desire to grow and take on new challenges and opportunities
