Service Representative located virtually in the Midwest region of the
United States.

This position is
part of the Dow Wolff Cellulosics (DWC) business
which produces high-performance Cellulose derivatives and companion
chemistries used for formulations across a broad variety of applications in
food, pharmaceuticals and industrial specialties. We are the
preferred development partner and premier application expert in the fields
we target, catering to the changing needs of all formulators and brand
owners whose label claims are enabled by our solutions, our own
competitiveness and our ability to increase our customer's
competitiveness. We are a Market Leader with close to a 30% share of
demand in Cellulosic Ethers (CE). DWC holds a leading position in
functional excipients, Cellulosic food hydrocolloids, and a few industrial
applications.
This is an
exciting opportunity for a Technical Service or Research & Development
person to join the DWC market facing business unit within the Food &
Nutrition Group. This is a full-time commercial role working across
the Food Segment with a key focus on managing our Technical Service
initiatives in the Midwest Region of United States. The successful
candidate is responsible and owns the technical interface with our Food and
Nutrition Customers within the defined region. This includes all
Training, Voice of the Customer and new
product launch activities. The position also works directly with
customers and our channel partners in creating a well-organized and
efficient team in delivering value-growth solutions to the Food
Industry. The Technical Service Representative would work with a wide
variety of METHOCEL and other polymer grades for the food industry in
effort to solve Gluten-Free, Satiety, Fat Replacement, and other similar
projects. Our products are used as a water soluble gums that bind,
retain water, thicken, form films, and lubricate in the following food applications:
bakery, bakery fillings, sauces & dressings, whipped toppings,
batters/coatings, and meat/fish preparations.
Key
Responsibilities:
·
Assist in delivering the Sales Plan through technical
solutions.
·
Responsible for technical aspects of Account Plans.
Understand customer technical needs and recommend appropriate products and
formulation techniques.
·
Document all key initiatives through PlanIt Plus and Report of Call Communications.
·
Prioritize and develop growth opportunities based on
value creation potential and alignment with Business Strategies.
·
Act as key focal point contact to resolve quality and
formulation issues with ongoing products, engaging R&D, Supply Chain,
Manufacturing, Sales and Quality as necessary.
·
Support the development of customer sales
specifications. Active member of the specification board within DWC.
·
Support DWC product portfolio changes - participate
in re-qualification projects at the customer sites along with Notification
of Change procedures.
·
Accompany commercial sales colleagues at purchasing
and technical levels to leverage technical value at commercial and all
levels within the account.
·
Meet regularly with R&D/Sales/Marketing to
determine priority of which customer projects need lab work and technical
consultations to be completed by R&D.
·
Assist customer scale-up activities that both include
formulation and equipment specifications.
·
Obtain important G2 information on customer trends
and competitor activities during their working relationships with the
accounts.
·
Develop training programs for our Account Managers
and Channel Partners.
·
Contribute to the understanding of the competitive
environment in the Food Industry.
·
Customer relationship building and Branding with our
distribution and customers.
·
Offer Formulation Support to Customers and Channel
Partners with our polymers and technical knowledge.
·
Work with our R&D Group in solving formulation
issues and offering the next generation food application/product.
Qualifications
Education and
Experience:
·
BS/MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Food
Science required.
·
Food formulation experience highly desirable.
·
Excellent IT skills and proficient in Microsoft
Office.
·
Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written
communication skills required.
·
Highly motivated and results-driven individual with
excellent interpersonal skills.
·
Strong organizational skills with ability to
prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a time-management process.
·
High level of integrity and ability to deal with
confidential information.
