The Versene Chelants
group has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Coordinator of
Product Quality and Food Safety located in Freeport, TX. The
purpose of this job is to coordinate, coach and actively promote the plant
quality systems required to achieve the business quality and customer
satisfaction goals. It also acts as the plant Subject Matter Expert (SME)
in our quality programs, processes and tools. It also enhances the front
line knowledge and accountability for quality throughout the organization.
Chelants plant is part of the Specialty Chemicals business group and is
aligned to the highly successful Amines business. This facility is a
global scale Chelant manufacturing unit, the larger of 2 Chelant facilities
for Dow and operates a unique technology and chemistry. The plant
produces over 15 different Chelant products and is very closely aligned to
the business and marketing functions. Products from the Versene
Chelants plant are sold into the home and personal care, cleaning, food and
pharmaceuticals industries. The Freeport facility manufactures
one regulated Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recipient product,
following cGMP/IPEC guidelines and holds a certification for food safety
for one other product.
As the Quality
Coordinator for this facility, this role is expected to work along side the
plant production engineers, technical service, marketing and quality roles
to ensure quality systems are maintained and customer issues are addressed
in a timely manner.
Minimum of a Bachelors
of Science degree is Required. (Engineering, Chemistry,
Analytical or related field is preferred)
Green Belt Project Leader or Black Belt certification
would be an asset.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. - based position
is the ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis
(U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident or qualifying Asylee / Refugee).
Work with business and manufacturing personnel to
introduce new products and develop validation plans for process changes on
Ensure implementation and on-going improvement of
business quality metrics (i.e., capability ratio) for all products
Reduce the number of Order Non-Compliances and
Quality Messages (QM's) from our customer. Ensure timely resolution of all
Lead Root Cause Investigations to identify root
causes of quality issues and drive completion of corrective actions.
Ensure that disposition of off-spec product has
negligible impact on our customers and meets all quality system
Ensure cGMP certification is maintained, along with
passing HACCP (Hazard Analysis-Critical Control Points) reviews.
Lead semi-annual customer audits and with no major
non-conformances, and coordinate audit responses to findings.
Lead plant analytical team for Versene chelants to
improve lab performance and service level to plant and site logistics
Work with plant personnel to maintain compliance on
cGMP requirements and food safety requirements as described in the plant
Coordinate internal and external sample requests for
miscellaneous analytical support.

Quality Coordinator is looked to for leadership from both plant personnel
and business personnel to troubleshoot customer and plant
problems. They often lead meetings, investigations, etc., and
