Key Accountabilities:
SUPPLIER / DISTRIBUTOR QUALITY PROGRAM:
-- Track the DineEquity New Supplier approval process to ensure that all
potential suppliers are
assessed against required standards.
-- Assist with ongoing compliance to Applebee's Supplier and Distributor
Quality Programs.
-- Coordinate management of 3rd Party Facility and Animal Welfare Audits
and travel to conduct
on site supplier/distributor assessments as necessary.
-- Assess suppliers with results feeding into an overall scorecard vendor
assessment.
-- Obtain or maintain Certification as a Professional Animal Auditor
Certification Organization
(PAACO) Auditor.
PRODUCT MONITORING PROGRAM:
-- Coordinate the Product Monitoring Program for Applebee's and IHOP
products to verify
conformance to specification.
-- Maintain and update the product auditing plan and complete
supplier/product scorecards.
-- Oversee part time temporary employees who conduct product audits.
-- Work with Accounting and QA Administrative Assistant to verify supplier
billback for costs
associated with this program.
FRESH PRODUCE:
-- Assist in the selection, approval, and continuous improvement of fresh
produce growers,
shippers, suppliers, processors and distributors.
-- Work with the produce tri-ad with the approval of new and/or alternate
suppliers of produce
with respect to food safety, quality attributes and product consistency.
-- Conducts or assists with product evaluation including but not limited to
sensory testing,
process modification, specification alignment and/or development efforts as
required to
develop supply source.
Ideal candidate will have:
EDUCATION, TRAINING & CERTIFICATION:
Required:
-- Bachelors degree in a scientific discipline including food science,
microbiology, chemistry, or
meat science.
-- Knowledge of HACCP, auditing principles, statistical process control
-- Strong computer skills
Desired:
-- Training or Certifications in areas of HACCP, Good Manufacturing
Practices (GMP's), and
food facility sanitation.
-- Working knowledge of food microbiology and foodborne pathogens.
EXPERIENCE IN SIMILAR ROLE OR FUNCTION:
Required:
-- 1-2 years technical experience in the food industry with food safety
responsibilities
Desired:
-- Previous experience in a chain QSR or Casual Dining concept or Food
Manufacturing.
-- Experience auditing food suppliers for compliance with food safety
and/or Animal Welfare
programs.
INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE:
Required:
-- Knowledge of food testing protocols, methodologies and microbiological
issues in food.
Desired:
-- Some knowledge of quality systems- GMP's, auditing, and/or specification
writing.
