Summary: This position leads and has
direct responsibility for the Food Safety and Quality programs for a multi-location
operation. The span of control includes governmental food safety/quality
regulatory compliance, company quality compliance, continuous improvement
processes, program design, implementation, and ongoing program management,
audit/inspection programs, and industry best practices programs. The
Quality and Food Safety Manager provides deliverables by processing strong
leadership and management skills. As a key position to the continued
success of the company, this position acts as the champion for food safety
and quality motivating, educating, and training cross-functional personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.
Possesses comprehensive knowledge all mandated regulations such as FDA and
USDA Rules and Regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices, Bioterrorism Act,
HACCP,U.S. Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, Allergen,
Chemical Program, Recall and Return Program, Hold and Release Program, AIM
Program, Standard Sanitary Operating Procedures
Leads the integration of the quality assurance and food safety programs
Acts as liaison for technical and quality issues between departments
Develops, implements, and maintains all food safety and quality programs
Inspects/Audits all food safety and quality programs
Ensures all sanitation processes meet or exceed company and regulatory
requirements
Acts as company representative for external compliance groups
Works closely with Operations to drive Quality ownership to the floor
Develops and analyzes trend data
Oversees monitoring, verification, and validation activities to ensure all
products leaving the facility meet the facility Food Safety and Quality
Programs
Drives customer complaint reduction
Organizes and trains as it relates to the food safety and quality programs
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages subordinate supervisors with supervisory responsibility to
employees engaged in food safety and quality processing. Is responsible for
the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the business units.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the
organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include
interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and
directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining
employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements:
|
|

|
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Safety, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science or
related field.
5+ years in food processing
5+ years in manufacturing management capacity
5+ years facilitating food safety initiatives
Travel:
Must be able to travel up to 20% of time
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :
HACCP Certified
Computer Skills:
Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint,
Statistical Process Control, Asset Management as it relates to Preventative
Maintenance
Other:
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic
thinking, resource allocation, leadership techniques, human resource
modeling, coordination of people and resources. Knowledge of machines and
tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
