Food Science Technician – Los Angeles, CA

Position Type:
Part-time contract position to assist with workload as business grows.
6 months to year contract, then possibility of full-time hours.

Hours:
The position is part time (4hrs daily, afternoons) Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities:

-Carry out tests and record and store test results.
-Ensure compliance to FDA regulations
-Perform bacterial and analytical testing including sensory, physical, chemical, evaluation of raw material, in process, or finished products following SOP and specifications
-Maintain raw material and finished product specifications
-Maintain HACCP documentation, laboratory data, files, supplies, and calibrate equipment on a regular schedule as well as maintaining databases
-Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment
-Maintain inventories in laboratories
-Follows basic GMP, all quality, safety, and company protocols & procedures

Required skills:

Requirements:

-Candidate must be able to exposed to and perform sensory evaluation on a variety of flavor and fragrance products and raw materials
-Food Science or Nutrition students or recent grads are preferred (degrees in biology, chemistry, etc. will not be considered unless experience is relevant to food industry)

-Must be flexible to contract opportunities and pay rate of $9-11/hr

-Good computer and communication skills, knowledge of lab equipment, and stand for long periods.
-Bilingual in English/Spanish would be a plus.

This is a great opportunity for entry-level candidates that are looking for laboratory experience or students that are able to work afternoons Monday-Friday.
