Description:

1. Purpose:

• Provide leadership to the plant in the preparation and execution

of all internal and external Quality System audits (Food Safety audits

including ASI, Steritech, YUM, GFSI, HAVI, Chain of Custody (COC) and

any other audits mandated by our customers)

• Plan, develop, and implement systems supporting successful

completion of audits and track corrective actions from post-audit

reports

• Develop, implement and maintain a Food Safety Systems audit for

the plant based around GFSI standards

• Identify processes to meet or improve required quality standards

• Work with pest control contractor to continually improve the pest

control system

• Lead document control of all Quality Systems for the Visalia

Plant and post controlled documents to the Quality Website; act a

technical resource for document development

• Communication across shifts to coordinate activity

2. Key Accountabilities:

• Ensure compliance of all Food Safety requirements for the plant

• Ensure proper document control of all Quality Systems for the

plant

• Develop, implement and maintain a Quality Systems audit process

for the plant based on GFSI, BRC and ISO9000 guidelines

• Ensure successful execution of COC audits and maintain compliance

for plant

• Manage janitorial duties and order supplies

• Ensure Plant sanitation schedules are maintained

• Performance management of all direct reports for quality

department

• Safety goals for quality department

• Process improvement projects

3. Key Challenges:

• The external environment, including technology,

competition, markets:

- Stay current on all the customer and audit agencies’

requirements; keep plant informed of changes and ensure compliance;

continually improve upon our QA Systems

- Changing customer requirements

• The internal environment, including interaction with

others, (both inside and outside the company) policies/practices:

- Interact with all departments and gain cooperation and compliance

without having direct authority; prepare plant to be successful in

audits and serve as an expert on requirements

• The work itself, e.g., problems, opportunities, change:

-Must be able to utilize time management & multi-tasking skills to keep

up with the demands of coordinating all of the Quality Systems and Audit

activities.

-Must be able to understand a wide variety of systems and processes in

the facility without being an expert in each.

1. Scope:

• 17 hourly direct reports (15 testers,1 QA Specialist and 1 QA

Tech)

• This position directly impacts the facility’s ability to meet

customer requirements, pass inspections and meet all general food safety

requirements.

2. Knowledge and Experience:

• Engineering degree preferred.

• 2-5 years of quality or manufacturing experience.

• Effective verbal and written skills

• Strong statistical and mathematical aptitude

• Understanding of Statistical process control preferred

• Strong analythical skills

• Previous experience with ISO9000 concepts preferred.

• Utilize software such as SPC

• Experience in supervising employees

• Previous experience with Food Safety Standards, HACCP and audit

processes preferred.

• Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with various

manufacturing and staff departments at the plant, and with groups

outside the plant, (other plants personnel, division Quality, vendors)

• Software Proficiency:

o MS Excel

o MS Word

o MS Access desired

o MS Power Point

3. Required Competencies:.

Work Schedule: Day Shift

On Call Weekends/Evenings (as needed)

Travel to other IP Foodservice Facilities (as needed)
