position is for January through June, or, July through December 2013
The Sensory Science and
Insights department works closely with Product Development, Quality and
Regulatory Compliance, Technology Innovation, manufacturing plants,
suppliers and external insights partners to support new business
development and protect the equity of The Hershey Company’s iconic brands.
SSI consists of 14 full-time professionals, 6.5 technicians and
coordinators, and 23 part time expert panelists.
Responsibilities:
The SSI intern will be
exposed to various aspects of sensory science, including:
·Discrimination testing
·Descriptive Analysis testing, training, attribute development
The successful candidate
will execute a variety of projects, from study design to data analysis and
reporting. The successful candidate will also gain an understanding of the
roles/skills of panelists, panel leaders, technicians and project leaders,
and work under the mentorship of a Scientist/Statistician within the team.
Qualifications:
·Currently enrolled in a Masters of
Science program in Sensory Evaluation, Food Science or related field
·Bachelors of Science in Food Science or related field, with
coursework in Sensory, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
·Working knowledge of Sensory methods including Discrimination
and Descriptive Analysis and Consumer Testing
·Proficient in Microsoft Office (WORD, Excel, Access,
PowerPoint)
·Strong written and oral communications skills
·Strong organization skills
