Job Description

 

SUMMARY

 

Responsible for assigned new product platforms, line extensions, material changes and product /process renovations.

 

Provide guidance to less experienced technician(s) as well as manufacturing associates.

 

Contributes effectively and synergistically on cross-functional teams and within the department to maximize speed, quality and cost through NPDL phases.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Responsible for new projects as assigned within the NPDL process from the feasibility phase through the launch phase. Meets project objectives, dates, and budgets.

 

Communicates effectively with all core & extended team members throughout projects defining & documenting project status, issues and next steps.

 

Contributes to the improvement of both projects and process.

 

Responsible for inputting of formulations, ingredient specifications, manufacturing procedures, etc. into relational database.

 

Responsible for line extension projects optimizing attributes such as quality, value, profitability; applies new/emerging ingredients and technologies.

 

Performs cook tests to determine proper processes and directions for finished products by testing appropriate multiple methods for retail and foodservice appliances usually under the guidance of Level II or Level III Technologists.

 

May represent Barber Foods at industry related meetings & expositions. May visit and audit vendors for special requests and product quality. Stays current in emerging technologies, ingredients and market trends.

 

When required, assists in the training of technician(s); assigns work, checks results, monitors costs.

Education Requirements

Entry level position.

 

Typically has a professional level of knowledge in food technology acquired through a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Nutrition or similar study.

Compensation contingent on level of education and experience.

 

Familiarity with Excel, Word, Lotus Notes.
