Description

Darigold is seeking a dynamic and driven Food Safety Manager to be part of the Darigold Team. The Food Safety Manager is responsible for the management of current food safety systems and the development and implementation of new systems.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Assists Plants in updating and maintaining Darigold’s current food safety programs.

            HACCP

            GMP

            Allergen

            Environmental Pathogen Control

            Food/Plant Security

            Extraneous Matter Control

            Ingredient lot traceability

            Food Safety Training

·         Insures Darigold facilities are compliant with new regulatory and customer food safety requirements

·         Assists Plants in developing and maintaining sanitation programs to maximize quality, food safety and efficient operations.

·         Develops and implements sanitation best practices.

·         Assists plants in developing and maintaining Sanitary Preventive Maintenance and Master Sanitation programs.

·         Conducts an annual sanitation audit of each Plant.

·         Maintains and updates recall systems and procedures.

·         Insures plants are in compliance with the FDA record keeping regulations for ingredients and finished products.

·         Conducts two mock recalls with each plant annually and implements corrective actions as needed.

·         Assures modifications to existing production lines or new construction meets expectations for food safety, regulatory compliance and sanitation

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.

·         Excellent organizational skills.

·         Able to successfully work independently as well as part of a team.

·         Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

·         Ability to travel to each location.  Total travel time is approximately 50% of the time.

·         Ability to facilitate implementation of corporate food safety systems in a positive and proactive manner.

 

Educations and Experience:

·         Undergraduate degree in Food/Dairy Science, Microbiology, or associated discipline.

·         Practical experience in food microbiology and food pathogen control.

·         Experience working in HACCP controlled food processing systems.

·         Experience in food plant sanitation and cleaning.

·         At least 5 years experience in a management role involving dairy or food quality assurance systems.
