The OSI Food Safety Technical Specifications Specialist is based out of the home office and will report directly to the Head of Corporate QA & Food Safety. The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain accountability of technical specification development throughout the product lifecycle process from ideation to product launch.


Specific Responsibilities Include:

         Develop and maintain technical specifications to be cross functionally shared across the Company

         Evolve and enhance technical specifications systems related to food safety

         Provide technical expertise as it relates to creating the definitions of OSI standards in regards to ingredient, nutritional and product attributes (physical and microbiological)

         Act as the key interface between Supply Chain and R&D as it relates to specification ownership for all OSI food products

         Develop best-in-class nutritional attributes, formulas, product and ingredient specifications that meet corporate, regulatory and consumer/customer needs

         Lead continuous process improvement- capture learning from failures and sharing knowledge with all relevant stakeholders. This includes communicating and promoting best practices across system and an increased speed to market

         Assure that all appropriate process related documentation is managed. Documentation includes original process development files and process deviation files

         May require some time traveling away from office, domestically and internationally





The ideal candidate will have the following experiences and qualifications:

      Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Life Science, Operations Management or a related field, required

      Minimum 3-5 years related work experience in food specifications management, required

      Detailed technical knowledge of RTE foods, produce & meat specs

      Experience interacting with regulatory agencies (i.e. USDA and FDA)

      Experience interacting with Supplier Partners on requirements and technical specs

      Experience in all facets of Food Safety and Quality program management

      Proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access)

      Experience with Microsoft Visio, preferred
