         Develop new and existing food products for Commercial and Retail businesses

         Contribute to corporate outsourcing strategy and coordinate R&D effort to identify viable external contractors capable of developing or manufacturing new products

         Proactively manage assigned projects, work cooperatively with multifunctional project teams, establish R&D project timelines and provide status reports to senior management on a regular basis

         Provide formulation and technical service support to Commercial Sales team, visit customers on as needed basis

         Conduct experimental processing trials at RB manufacturing facilities or copackers for scale-up purposes.

         Assist food engineers with process improvement projects and specification of new process equipment

         Assist manufacturing facilities during start-up of new process equipment and new products

         Seek out and implement cost saving projects to improve gross margin

         Support raw material procurement strategies by assessing and approving new sources of ingredients

         Work with Package Engineering personnel to help select and evaluate pack stability and performance

         Provide support to Manufacturing to troubleshoot quality and production problems

         Maintain R&D laboratory and pilot facilities in an acceptable state of operation

         Develop and properly maintain specifications, Bills of Material, and methods of manufacture in technical documentation system

         Assure appropriate and thorough communication to Regulatory Compliance function

 

Qualifications

:    

         BS and/or MS in Food Science or Engineering

         5 years related experience, preferably in food products

         Understanding of FDA Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is desirable

         Well developed organoleptic ability and skilled in sensory evaluation

         Experience in formulation  and manufacturing of food products

         Must be willing to travel domestically/internationally

         Strong project management capability

         Analytical and problem-solving abilities

         Good interpersonal skills

         Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong presentation abilities

         Computer literate and experienced in fundamentals
